IPSWICH
BOROUGH COUNCIL CHOOSES NOD32
ANTIVIRUS
SYSTEM FOR BEST
DETECTION
RATE

Ipswich Borough Council, like all council offices, has a
reputation to maintain for quality of service, speed and accuracy. This ethos
goes hand-in-glove with computer security and maintaining a strong antivirus
protection policy. When Ipswich Borough Council’s desktop antivirus contract
expired, it was an opportunity for the Council to do some market research to
find the best solution for detection.
IT Network Manager, Howard Gaskin, looked at Norton, McAfee,
Sophos and Eset for the most competitively priced and best detection rate
solution. With sound advice from Bournemouth-based Aspect Systems,
Ipswich Borough Council decided to opt for NOD32 antivirus system for their 800
desktops.
“The high detection rate from NOD32 is very much under
published. It is also excellent value for money”, comments Howard Gaskin and
continues, “You know you have installed a good product when the response from
the users is quiet. When the phone doesn’t ring, you know that there have not been any reported problems or crashes”.
NOD32 is unique
in the market place because of its smallest system footprint, ease of updating,
100% detection rates, boasting many major awards including the Virus Bulletin
100% award for the 23rd time in August 2003 and Best Antivirus
Program of 2001 award from Australian PC User magazine. NOD32 is able to
scan at a rate 2-50 times higher than the competition and has outstanding email
scanning abilities that make it an excellent, cost effective, alternative to
established brand name scanners.
The installation went smoothly. Aspect Systems provided
Ipswich Borough Council with a free of charge Network Deployment Tool to enable
them to load NOD32 onto their network, as opposed to individually downloading
800 PCs. “The roll-out went ahead relatively smoothly, and whatever teething
problems we encountered, Aspect Systems were reliable and efficient to resolve
them very quickly. So far I am very impressed with NOD32 and believe it should
be considered as one of the leading suppliers in antivirus solutions”, comments
Howard Gaskin.
